Employment The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, is the national governing body for sailing, windsurfing, motorboating and powerboat racing. TRAINING MANAGER We are seeking to recruit a successor to James Stevens, who will be retiring in September 2010, to oversee all of the RYA’s training schemes and maintain RYA Training as a renowned and highly respected global brand. The Training Manager reports to the Chief Executive and leads one of the RYA’s major departments, with a team of 13 staff and a budget of £1.5m. The successful applicant will have experience of managing people, programmes and budgets, a broad knowledge of sailing and powerboating, a good understanding of RYA training schemes and a background in teaching and coaching. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the RYA and negotiate at national level. Commercial awareness and experience of handling complaints and managing conflict are also essential. The role will involve some travel and work outside normal office hours.
